SUMMARY:Playtesting Club - Chuck's Hop Shop (Central District)
DESCRIPTION:Looking for feedback on your game? Only had other game developers try it? Playtesting Club is for you!\nPlaytesting Club takes place at Chuck’s Hop Shop (Central District) on the 2nd Tuesday of each month and at Stoup Brewery on the 4th Wednesday of each month. \nSet up a laptop and have strangers from all walks of life try your game! It’s never too early to bring something – as a wise game developer once said\, “as soon as you have something that you can move on the screen\, hand someone the controller and see what they think.” Whether you have a simple prototype with programmer art or you’re close to shipping something\, bring your game! We don’t require polished art here – make sure it’s fun before you pretty it up!\nYou’re going to get feedback either way – by playtesting\, or eventually in your Steam reviews. Why not get ahead of it and get that feedback before you release? Come to Playtesting Club to ensure your steam reviews will be rock solid! \nSeattle Indies strives to be an inclusive and welcoming community for everyone. SUMMARY:Jimothy Jamothy
DESCRIPTION:🦝 JIMOTHY JAMOTHY 🦝\nThe myth. The legend. The Jam.\nRegister: https://itch.io/jam/jimothy-jamothy \n\n“Jimothy (born c. 2025) is a wild raccoon living in Seattle\, Washington. His unusual short\, rounded shape\, likely the result of a spinal deformity\, led to him becoming a viral internet sensation in July 2026.” Wikipedia (probably) \n\nIt’s time to channel the power of Seattle’s favorite viral sensation into game development! Jimothy has captured hearts across the globe with his unbothered stance\, round silhouette\, and absolute refusal to let a spinal deformity slow him down.\nNow\, we’re passing the torch to you: use the legend of Jimothy to fuel your creativity\, break the rules\, and make great games!\nWhether you’re making a 2D platformer\, a 3D surrealist nightmare\, a cozy narrative game\, or a full-blown grunge rhythm game\, if Jimothy is in it\, it counts.\nThe world needs a little levity and unity right now. Let’s bring everyone together one round raccoon game at a time. \n🌐 How to Join\n\nIn-Person Jams: Local indie communities across multiple cities are hosting live Jimothy Jamothy sites! Check with your regional game dev orgs to see if a local event is happening near you\, or grab some friends and host your own gathering!\nJoin Seattle Indies at Hugo House for the Narrative Game Jam August 15-16 and make an epic narrative starring Jimothy!\nShowcase Opportunity: Selected games and fan favorites from the jam will be showcased live at SLICE!\n\n📅 THE DETAILS \n\nStart Date: August 15\, 2026\nEnd Date: August 25\, 2026\nTheme: Jimothy (Interpret this as loosely\, literally\, or absurdly as you see fit)\n\n🎨 WHAT CAN YOU MAKE?\nAnything! Video games\, tabletop rulesets\, interactive art pieces\, or musical experiences. \n\nSolo developers and teams are both welcome.\nAll skill levels encouraged—from first-time jammers to seasoned pros.\nCommunity Art & Assets: Check out the #art channel in the Seattle Indies Discord for community-made assets\, 3D models\, and inspiration!\n\n🎸 THE RULES\n\nBe Respectful: Keep submissions free of hate speech\, bigotry\, or harmful content. Follow the Seattle Indies Code of Conduct.\nFresh Builds: Try to build the core of your project during the jam window (using existing base templates\, music\, and art assets is fine!).\nHave Fun & Keep It Whimsical: Don’t overthink it. Channel the spirit of Jimothy and make something that makes you laugh or smile.\nOpen to all: Anyone can join from anywhere in the world and all skill levels. Jimothy is for everyone.\n\n🎧 COMMUNITY & HYPE\nJoin the Seattle Indies Discord to find teammates\, share progress screenshots\, grab community key art\, and listen to the official Jimothy anthem! (Coming soon) We have a whole category of channels dedicated to Jimothy Jamothy so hop on in and get rolling.\nOr host your own version on your local Discord server or at a venue of your choosing. \nBuild fast\, keep it weird\, and long live Jimothy! 🦝✨ \n📃CATEGORIES\nBest use of Jimothy: The holy grail category for the most creative or unhinged integration into core gameplay.\nEnvironmentally friendliest: For the game with the lowest carbon footprint\, most lush digital foliage\, or strongest commitment to fake recycling. \nMost Canon Jimothy: For the game that feels like it reveals the absolute undeniable truth about who/what Jimothy actually is.\nSmells Like Jimothy: For the soundtrack or sound design so heavy\, fuzzy\, and 90s it practically radiates flannel and grunge-era energy. \nBandit of the Year: For the stealth game or mechanic that makes stealing a half-eaten bagel feel like a high-stakes heist. \nGot Me (Jimothy) Wrong: For the game with the ultimate subversion or plot twist\, something that looks like one thing on the surface (maybe a cute\, innocent raccoon simulator) but turns out to be something completely different once you start playing.

SUMMARY:Narrative Game Jam @ Hugo House
DESCRIPTION:Seattle Indies is partnering with Hugo House to run a narrative game jam from Aug 15th to Aug 16th. The Lapis Theater will be open for participants from 11:00 AM-7:00 PM. Participants will work in groups (or solo) to complete an entire narrative game in the time allotted. Food and drinks will be provided\, and the Hugo House has cleared out a space for everyone to work side by side.\nWhether you’re a game dev veteran or looking to try out making a game for the first time\, all skill levels are welcome. There will also be a secret theme revealed at the start of the jam! \nWhat is a Game Jam?\nA game jam is an event hosted by Seattle Indies where video game developers\, artists\, and musicians race against time to build a playable game from scratch. This is typically during a specific timeframe\, and can last from 48 hours to a few weeks. However\, Game Jam participants must incorporate a secret theme or set of constraints. \nOn Aug 15th to Aug 16th\, come see video game devs work in our Lapis Theater to create a video game based off of a “secret theme” announced on Aug 15th at 11:00 AM! \nReturn on August 22\, 6:30-8:30 PM for a Game Showcase & Awards Ceremony in the Lapis Theater\, where participants will be able to present their games. \nQuestions? Email nat@hugohouse.org\n—\nSeattle Indies strives to be an inclusive and welcoming community for everyone. By attending our events\, you are agreeing to follow our code of conduct (https://www.seattleindies.org/code-of-conduct/).
